Get Out of Nabi Tablet Fast Boot Mode Black.screen

(FIXED) Stuck on Fastboot Mode - no recovery :( Jan 8, 2018

  1. Extreme_0ne , Jan 8, 2018 :
    Hi

I really hope someone can offer me some advice.

I woke up this morning and my phone had been on charge overnight, but it wouldn't switch on. When I plug in the charger cable the LED doesn't light up.

I Power Cycled and now the phone comes up with the Oneplus logo and Fastboot Mode.

I have found various threads that suggest holding down the Volume Button and entering Recovery Mode.
I have successfully done this before with other phones.

I cannot access Recovery Mode - when I hold down Vol- + Power the phone returns to Fastboot Mode.

    Now what do I do???

You can try using your PC instead, maybe that works... but I wonder why it's not working by power + vol down
This method requires a computer and a working ADB setup. ADB is a very useful tool which is used to send terminal commands to Android device via a command prompt. In this method, you'll execute a simple command on your PC which will put your device into recovery mode. So, it's highly useful when your hardware buttons are buggy or you're frequently booting into recovery mode as a part of testing. First off, click the below links to install the ADB & Fastboot files and USB drivers for OnePlus One on your PC.
    • How to Install ADB and Fastboot on your Computer
    • How to Install USB Drivers for OnePlus One
Follow the below steps to boot your device into recovery mode.
    1. First off, prepare your device:
      • Enable developer options: Go to your device's Settings » About phone » Scroll to the bottom and tap on "Build number" seven times to enable developer options.
      • Enable USB Debugging: Go to your device's Settings » Developer options » tick the "USB debugging" check-box (sometimes listed as Android Debugging)
    2. Connect your device to the PC using a USB cable and if a pop-up screen shows up on your device asking "Allow USB debugging?", tick the "Always allow from this computer" and press OK.
    3. Navigate to the folder where you have installed the ADB files and open a command prompt inside the folder by pressing Shift key + Right click in the empty space inside the folder, and select Open command window here option from the Windows context menu.
    4. Now simply type the below command and press the enter key to boot into fastboot mode.
      adb reboot recovery

When the phone is off, if you hold the volume up button with the power button, you will enter fastboot mode.
You can get out of fastboot mode by holding down the power button until the phone shuts off.

When the phone is off, holding the the volume down button with the power button will enter recovery mode (note, if you see only Chinese text on your screen, please select the top option, which will put you into English text).

What happens if you select reboot, while you are in recovery?

Is it possible the volume up button is faulty and stuck in the up position? That would cause the phone to boot into fastboot mode.

Hmmm you know what, I think you might be right!

    The button is definitely sticking.

I wonder if the phone is easy to take apart to try and free the button...

  5. Rusty NZ , Jan 8, 2018 :
    Yes it is very easy.
You may need a new volume button power button combination which is available on Ali Express and I expect in eBay. I brought a spare as I had problems with buttons on other phones.
This video should help you with the repair.

Btw I am happy to help and I hope you get the phone fixed

  6. Extreme_0ne , Jan 10, 2018 :
I have contacted support who have advised I'm still in the warranty period and they'll take a look at the phone with a view to repairing it, depending on their inspection.

If it fails the inspection they will offer to repair for a fee.
I wonder what the fee is likely to be ... ?

  7. Rusty NZ , Jan 10, 2018 :
Once they got your phone, who knows what they will charge.
If it was me, I would just repair the phone myself, but if you have no experience repairing phones you might have to send it in to be repaired.

  8. Extreme_0ne , Jan 10, 2018 :
I've fixed lots of things in the past, tablets, phones etc ... but they were out of warranty.

I suppose I could see if they'll do it for free and, if they charge me silly money, I could get them to send it back to me and I'll repair it.

Thanks for your advice rusty264, much appreciated! :)

that is your mobile is bricked

  10. Extreme_0ne , Jan 10, 2018 :
Thanks for your advice but that's not the case.

It is, in fact, the Volume Button stuck in the Up position causing the phone to boot into Fastboot mode.

I'll reply to this thread when the phone is repaired. ;)

Why did you or how did your phone get factory reset?
Would you like to share how did you fix your sticky volume button?

  13. Extreme_0ne , Jan 13, 2018 :
After coming here, I contacted Oneplus support (as the phone was still in warranty) and they suggested that the problem could be fixed by re-flashing - they did this remotely.

It didn't work as the problem was due to the Volume Button being broken. We already knew this! ;)

Oneplus support offered to send a courier to collect the phone and send it for repair, however when I looked at the reviews for the firm they use for their repairs I decided against sending the phone to them.

I took the phone to a local guy that does phone repairs and he replaced the volume button and the phone now works like new! :D

kaihp and Rusty NZ like this.

Excellent result that you got your phone working, but it is a shame that you had to reflash your phone unnecessarily. At least you know your phone is nice and clean. I am pleased I was able to give you an answer that helped you to figure out the problem with your phone.

  15. Extreme_0ne , Jan 13, 2018 :
Yeah, but with Google offering to reinstall apps and data from a previous install, I'm back up and running, with all my old apps less than 24hrs later.

    Easy. :)

    Thanks for your help.

Hey guys, I have a similar issue with OnePlus 6T. My volume down button was pressed and I rebooted my phone after an update and it was stuck in fastboot mode. Is there a way I can boot it normally using Android ABD commands?
I also wiped cache and hoped it would reboot normally but it didnt.
